Oridathoru Postman tells the story of Raghunandan (Kunchacko Boban). Raghu, who is a native of Chenankuzhi village is the son of Gangadharan (Innocent), the village postman. Gangadharan is a lazy man who is notorious for making serious lapses in his duty.

He is even known to have handed over money orders to people whom he likes. The problem is that it is Raghu who often bears the brunt of his father’s actions.

Raghu on the other hand is a far cry from his father. He is quite hard working and does any job that comes his way. He works as a Postman at times, canvasses for mutual funds and even teaches at a PSC exam coaching class. And he is also in love with Usha (Meera Nandan), his student.

Raghu is adored by the villagers, and he plays the mediator in most of the village’s major issues. In one such attempt to bring peace, he meets Yasin Mubarak (Sarath Kumar) and this meeting changes his life forever.

Shaji Azeez, who had earlier directed ‘Shakespeare M A Malayalam’ along with Shaiju turns independent director with ‘Oridathoru Postman’. The film has been scripted by K Gireesh Kumar who had scripted the hugely successful ‘Veruthe Oru Bharya’.

The music of the film has been composed by Mohan Sitara, and the lyrics are by Kaithapram and Anil Panachooran.

Produced by Shaji and Basheer under the banner of Nila Creations, ‘Oridathoru Postman’ would shortly make it to the theatres.

So what happens during the rest of the running time of this film? There are plenty of (non)happenings in the form of C I Marthandan (Jagathy) the local cop, Poovar Pookutty (Suraj Venjarammoodu) the music teacher, Aksharavalli (Kalpana) the Malayalam tutor or the German Shepherd (Bijukuttan) the man who hopes to fly to Germany after marrying a German tourist. The director Aneesh J Karrinad himself appears in a cameo as photographer Mathai who has ulterior motives in mind.

You see some films and tell yourself that this is the worst possible scenario in two and a half hours time, and along comes another one that demolishes your belief. Nirakazhcha for instance, plunges into new depths and astounds you further on account of its absurdity.

The paintings are more of an excuse for the film, and it becomes obvious after a while. Mamta struts around half naked most of the time as the modeling goes on, and gets all wet in the surf. The painter goes for it with all dedication and yet it’s strange that we almost never get to see his finished works on screen, except perhaps once.

Shilpa knows that Sreekuttan is waiting for her, and yet finds that she is hopelessly in love with Lorenzo. It’s funny then that she behaves like a two year old and throws tantrums when she sees a few of his pictures with his ex-girl friend in Italy. In an unbelievably ridiculous scene she lectures Lorenzo as to how he will never realize what the mind of a Malayali girl looks and feels like. Lorenzo looks as puzzled as the rest of us at this unexpected fireworks show.

Poor Bocciarelli is in unfamiliar waters for sure, and this clearly shows. For one, he doesn’t get to kiss the woman he loves on her lips, and that should be a first time for the Italian for sure. He makes do with those tiny pecks on the cheeks and a lot of rolling around on the sand. He climbs coconut trees, lends an ear to several verbal insults from the locals, does Kalaripayattu, takes part in Pulikali and what not, and all this for a film that he would never be proud of.

What on earth was Mamta Mohandas thinking about while doing this film? ‘Nirakazcha’ marks an all time low in her career, and people who have seen this film would really need some big help to erase the memories from their minds. This isn’t just a bad career move for Mamta, it’s a grave blunder. And Manoj K Jayan?

No amount of words or descriptions would aptly describe the abysmal quality of this film. The one person whom I was thinking about the whole time while watching the film was poor Raja Ravi Verma who must be twisting and turning around in his grave every time ‘Nirakazcha’ is screened.

Vinayan who has delivered several hits with newcomers is trying his luck once again with a bunch of new faces in his latest film Yakshiyum Njanum. Debutantes Goutham, Ricky, Shanil, Jubil and Meghna are being introduced in this film.

Yakshiyum Njanum starts with Minister Madhavan (Sphadikam George) arriving along with his son Ranjith (Jubil) to consult astrologer Narayanji (Thilakan) regarding the bad omens that have been plaguing his estate.

The Minister believes that these omens have an evil impact even on his ministership. Hence he has arrived to seek the advice of Narayanji who had earlier bailed him out of a similar situation.

The Minister has several secrets to hide, the most prominent one among which is that he has provided shelter to a young man who is the chief accused in a murder case.

Shyam, (Gautham) the youngster is a notorious goon for whom a man hunt has been launched by the local police. Meghna plays the beautiful ghost in the film who falls in love with Shyam.

Happy news. Siby Malayil one of the better directors is back after the nightmarish Devadoothan, with the naughty – nutty antics of a father and son with his new film Ishtam. The screenplay is minty cool and unlike other family comedy films Ishtam is sharp, hip, mod, trendy and funny. If you liked Siby’s Summer In Bethleham, then Ishtam is hilarious.

Kuttikrishna Menon (Nedumudi Venu) is a rich widower with two sons Vipin (Sreenivasan) and Pavan (Dileep). Vipin stays with his family, while Pavan is still a bachelor. Pavan runs a successful department store and Menon helps him in the business. There is an unusual bond between the father and son. They are more like friends, sharing jokes and secrets and they understand each other very well. Menon’s best friend Narayanan (Innocent) is on the look out for a middle-aged lady, whom he can marry. They get into all sorts of funny situations including being nabbed by a team of women police for alleged eve teasing. In these situations it is always Pavan who bails them out. Pavan believes that Narayanan is spoiling his father!

One day Pavan gets an anonymous call of a girl Rose, who claims that they studied together in college. The girl drives him mad and finally she confesses that she is Anjana (Navya Nair), whom Pavan had ragged in college and had to leave studies to join her parents in US. She wanted to take revenge on Pavan and she wins Menon over. Anjana stays with Sreedevi (Jayasudha) who is a music teacher in a college.

Anjana comes closer to Pavan’s family and Menon starts adoring her. In one of the family weddings Menon sees Sreedevi and gets a shock. They had a soft corner for each other in their younger days but were unable to develop it into marriage. But later Menon married somebody and got settled in Singapore. But knowing that Sreedevi is still unmarried, Menon wants her back in his life. Pavan and Anjana try their best to bring them together, which also results in their falling in love. But Anjana’s father (Balachandra Menon) objects to is daughter’s father-in-law getting married. He asks Pavan to decide if he wants to marry Anjana or conduct his father’s wedding. But for Pavan, it is his father’s happiness that matters more than his own life. Will Pavan be able to pull it off?

Newcomer Kalavoor Ravikumar a journalist has written the script with inspired inputs by Siby. Of the cast Dileep is amazingly candid and can be crowned the comedy king. Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Srinivasan are all, brilliant. Jayasudha still is as fine as mature red wine. But the film’s brilliant and bouncy surprise packet is Navya Nair as Anjana. She has a fine future.

Kuttysrank Malayalam Review Movie

The Story : Kuttysranku movie (translated as boat captain in Malayalam) is about a mariner who operates a cargo vessel between the sea port of Kodungalloor near Kochi, once roaring port towns in Kerala.

Kutty Sranku is married to three different woman in the three islands he visits, however each one of them unaware about the presence of others. They meet each other for the first time after the death of the protagonist.

The police find an unidentified body on the beach, and three women turn up, each claiming it is ‘her’ Kutty Srank. One is a wealthy woman who wants to become a Buddhist nun.The second is a woman who acts in a traditional Christian play with Kutty Srank and is later accused of murder.The third is a gentle, mute woman who, it appears, is carrying Kutty Srank’s baby.This richly shot film, with multiple skeins and powerful imagery, teases and hesitates to reveal the real Kutty Srank.

The Malayalam film Kutty Srank, starring superstar Mammootty, is going to have a great release by the Reliance Big Pictures on July 23.

Kutty Srank has already been screened at various film festivals all over the world. In October 2009, the film was screened at Pusan International Film Festival and at the Mumbai film festival. Montreal World Film Festival screened the movie in September 2009 and again in November 2009, it was screened at the International Film Festival.

This is the first film where Mammootty has worked with Shaji N Karun, who started his career as a cinematographer. Later, Shaji turned director with the film Piravi in 1988, which went on to win the esteemed Camera d’Or – Mention d’honneur at the 1989 Cannes film festival.

Speaking on the release, Shaji said, “Numerous emotions and shades are layered in Kutti Srank. And, these can be transformed into acting only by a superstar like Mammootty. I hope movie lovers all over the world appreciate this creative work.”

Sanjeev Lamba, CEO Reliance BIG Pictures added, “We have always felt proud to be associated with meaningful cinema. We hope the gripping performance of Mammootty and the beautiful story of Kutty Srank, can manage to mesmerize the viewers.”

Mammootty plays the male lead and the film has the renowned actresses Padmapriya, Meena Kumari and Kamalini in the female leads. Isaac Thomas has scored music for the film.

This is also a remarkable film in terms of the cinematography. It is the first time that a female cinematographer Anjuli Shukla, has shot for a Malayalam film. Shukla has earlier worked in films like Rarambh and Tahaan as the first Camera Assistant.

The films story deals with an unidentified body on the beach, which is claimed by three ladies.

Although the storyline seems to be interesting, the fate of the film will be decided only after July 23.
